McCain, Graham defend Obama State. Dept. nominee linked to Benghazi

John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Friday offered a  preemptive defense of President Obama’s nominee to head European affairs at the  State Department amid concerns about her role in the Benghazi talking  points.

Obama nominated former State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland for the post on Thursday,  just as news broke that House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) had  asked that she be deposed by his committee.

Classified US Documents Still Unsecured In Libya

No Live Ammo for Marines

U.S. Marines defending the American embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition, limiting their ability to respond to attacks like those this week on the U.S. consulate in Cairo.

Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson “did not permit U.S. Marine guards to carry live ammunition,” according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Nightwatch. “She neutralized any U.S. military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.”
