UNMOVED: While local politicians tout “no increase” in property tax rates, Texas property taxes have more than doubled over the past 13 years, rising 63 percent faster than population and inflation combined, according to the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.
A Texas lawmaker is calling local politicians to account for their persistent assertions that steady tax rates mean flat property tax bills.
“That’s simply not true,” said state Sen. Paul Bettencourt, R-Houston.
