New Right-to-Carry permit holder defends himself against armed robbers, FOX 2 Detroit, Detroit, Mich. 10/19/15

Thursday, October 22, 2015

A 23-year-old Right-to-Carry permit holder was waiting for a bus after work when a trio of armed men attempted to rob him. One of the thieves put their hands inside the permit holder’s pocket and stole $220. The permit holder responded to the robbery by drawing a gun and firing at the criminals, striking two and causing all to flee. The two wounded robbers were captured by police while seeking medical attention at a nearby hospital.

The permit holder obtained his Right-to-Carry permit mere weeks before his harrowing encounter. Speaking with a local media outlet, the permit holder’s brother noted, “I believe you should have the right to protect yourself from any danger… We should be able to walk and go where we want freely and not be in fear of our life that that’s why I believe your CPL is protecting you from any danger you may come across.” (FOX 2 Detroit, Detroit, Mich. 10/19/15)

IS CHAOS AT OUR DOOR?

by Wayne LaPierre, NRA Executive Vice President, November, 2014 –

Brace yourself. You won’t hear about this from the mainstream media. And very few politicians dare to discuss these things openly.

But the reality is that we may be living in some of the most dangerous times in human history.  Does that sound like some crazy exaggeration to you?  Well, consider this: Recently, in The Wall Street Journal, former CIA Director James Woolsey warned that “the most significant threat to the U.S. in the world” is the threat of catastrophe caused by an electromagnetic pulse, or EMP.  And that danger appears to loom larger every year.  What is an electromagnetic pulse?  It can be triggered by a massive solar storm, or set off by detonation of a nuclear device hundreds of miles above the earth.  Even if no blast, shock or fallout reaches the ground, the cascading avalanche of infrastructure failures caused by an EMP can create a national catastrophe.

City Of Chicago Ordered To Pay NRA’s Legal Fees – Again

rahm

From The DailyCaller.com, 07/07/14 –

Fairfax, Va. – The United States District Court in the Northern District of Illinois has ordered the City of Chicago to reimburse $940,000 in legal expenses incurred by the NRA. The NRA had challenged Chicago’s ban on gun sales within city limits in Benson v. City of Chicago. The Benson case was consolidated into Illinois Association of Firearm Retailers v. City of Chicago and that case challenged five aspects of Chicago’s law:

United Nations Seeks US-based Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Specialists

It’s no secret that the United Nations, with assistance from members of the Executive and Legislative branches in the United States, has been actively working to reduce Americans’ accessibility to firearms.

In 2012 President Obama, along with then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, spearheaded a backdoor move that would have imposed gun control on the United States through foreign means by signing a global disarmament initiative known as the Small Arms Treaty. Though that attempt failed, mass shooting incidents at Sandy Hook and elsewhere have kept the pressure on gun owners with the President having made repeated suggestions that he would mandate gun restrictions through Executive Order should state and federal legislatures fail to act.

Given the rocky history between America’s gun owners and the United Nations, chances are that the push for disarmament will continue with more ferver than ever before. In fact, a recent job posting at the United Nations website suggests that the organization is not only working to get guns out of the hands of American citizens, they are actively preparing personnel to assist in what they call “disarmament, demobilization and reintegration” activities.

From NRA.org, August, 2013 – Pharmacist Terrell Milby was working at Westside Jiffy Pharmacy when a young man entered and asked to speak with him about a list of medications. The man stood at the consultation window and handed Milby a napkin. On the napkin was a handwritten note requesting an unspecified number of painkillers and syringes. The list also included the warning, “I have a gun.” Milby said he didn’t believe the would-be robber actually had a gun and showed him his own firearm. Milby then ordered the man to get on the floor. Upon seeing the pharmacist’s firearm, the robber turned and fled. Milby called police and was able to later identify the man who attempted to rob the pharmacy. The suspect was then arrested and charged with first-degree robbery. “You can never be too careful,” Milby said of the incident. “You never know who’s going to walk in.” (The News Courier, Athens, AL, 5/14/13)

Armed Citizen

From NRA.org, November 2012 –

After locking up, a female employee of Cakes and Confections 4U was leaving the business through a back door when she realized she was cornered by two strange men. One man struck her in the jaw while the other ripped off her necklace and earrings. When the men then attempted to sexually assault the woman, she produced a concealed .32 cal. firearm from her waistband and fired. Both men immediately dropped the stolen jewelry and ran. It was last reported that the assailants were still at large. After the incident, the woman said her firearm saved her life and that she had a strong message to all women, “If you don’t have a gun or you’re scared of guns, get familiar with them and get a gun.” (FOX Carolina 21, Landrum, SC, 8/29/12)

From NRA.org, October, 2012 – Martha Lewis was at home with her two daughters when she heard a loud noise. It was 3 a.m., so Lewis immediately called police and grabbed her gun. She went to her daughters’ room and told them each to get something with which to defend themselves. They were at the top of the stairs when a man, who had kicked in the door and entered the home, spotted them. When the man started up the stairs toward them, Lewis warned the intruder that she would shoot him. When he ignored her warnings, Lewis fired causing him to stumble outside where police found him. The 25-year-old male was hospitalized in stable condition. After the incident, Lewis said, “There’s so much talk about banning guns and gun control, but they’re for protection. There’s no way that I could have fought him off.” (The Blaze, Dora, AL, 8/17/12)

Concealed-Carry Practice Session

When we go to the range, we tend to do what’s fun or easy rather than concentrating on improving our weakest skills, and that’s OK.

From Shooting Illustrated, By Ed Head,  September 24, 2012 – Shooting should be fun. But especially when practicing with our everyday carry pistol—instead of our favorite range gun—we would be better served if we focus on some drills designed to improve our defensive skills.

From the NRA, August, 2012 – Just one week after being released from prison, Kiet Thanh Ly, 34, allegedly entered Smith’s Marketplace and purchased a kitchen knife. After leaving the store, Ly used the knife to senselessly stab a 30-year-old man multiple times in the abdomen. He then attacked a 45-year-old man who suffered cuts to his arms and head. Ly continued to threaten and chase people in the store’s parking lot until a 47-year-old man with a concealed-carry permit intervened. He was able to detain Ly until police arrived. Ly is being held on suspicion of assault and attempted murder. (The Salt Lake Tribune, Salt Lake City, UT, 4/28/12)
