GAO says Obama administration can’t bail out insurers without Congress
From The Washington Examiner, By Philip Klein | September 30, 2014
The Department of Health and Human Services cannot legally bail out the insurance industry for excessive losses through President Obama’s health care law unless the U.S. Congress approves language allowing the administration to do so, according to a legal opinion released on Tuesday by the Government Accountability Office.
The ruling could end up provoking a showdown between the White House and Congressional Republicans over Obamacare that has the potential to affect health insurance premiums.
Liberty Institute Files Supreme Court Brief in Support of Hobby Lobby
From LibertyInstitute.org, Kelly Shackelford, January 31, 2014
IN THE PUBLIC ARENA
This week, Liberty Institute filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties in their landmark religious freedom cases against Obama’s controversial HHS Mandate.
The case, Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. and Conestoga Wood Specialties Corp. v. Sebelius, is scheduled for oral arguments on March 25. This is a critical, high profile case that will determine whether for profit, faith-based businesses are protected by the Religion Clauses of the First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and can operate without fear of governmental control and oversight of their religious exercise. Kathleen Sebelius Thinks You’re An Idiot
From NRO, By Yuval Levin, July 10, 2012 –
In preparation for this week’s House vote to repeal Obamacare, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has an op-ed in today’s Washington Post heralding the wonderful effects the law has supposedly already had on American health care. The argument she makes is just stunningly dishonest, and is readily refuted by data and analysis that the administration itself has made available. It’s astonishing that the administration expects anyone to buy this stuff.
Sebelius argues first that:
In the decade before the law was passed, national health expenditures increased about 7 percent a year. But in the past two years, those increases have dropped to less than 4 percent per year, saving Americans more than $220 billion.

Obama Administration Blocks Release of Pivotal HHS Abstinence Study
Posted by Catherine Snow
The Obama administration is, once again, entangled in controversy over sex education.
Yet this time, it is not about what the administration is trying to implement, but about what it is withholding – and apparently for political reasons.
