Global Warming in Hot Water
by Mark Steyn, April 14, 2015
I know the (Aussie) ABC are a bunch of doctrinaire lefties for the most part, but I always enjoy my appearances thereon and Tony Jones is a not un-agreeable host, all things considered. Still, it’s sad to see them providing a platform for serial litigant and Clime Syndicate warmano Michael E Mann.
As you know, Mann is suing me for describing his famous scary “hockey stick” graph as “fraudulent”, which it is. The graph shows a straight-line “shaft” of the stick representing 900 years of stable global temperature, followed by a sharp upturned blade representing the 20th century temperature rocketing up and out the top right-hand corner. The “message” (which Mann and his colleagues were concerned not to “dilute” with any subtleties or qualifications) was simple: We’re all outta graph paper. This thing’s off the charts with nowhere to go but up through the ceiling at an unprecedented rate. Give us all your money or the planet’s gonna fry.
The climate change money machine
From The Hill, By Benjamin Zycher, contributor, 08/12/14 –
The period of atmospheric and surface warming that began in the late 1970s ended in the mid- to late 1990s, but the climate change industry is hot. Witness a new effort by Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) to use unsupported assertions about the hugely adverse effects of greenhouse gas emissions purportedly now looming large to justify federal auctions of “carbon” permits, with the revenue inevitably used by the political class for purposes of redistribution to favored interest groups.
Climate change scientist claims he has been forced from new job in ‘McCarthy’-style witch-hunt by academics across the world

Professor Lennart Bengtsson, 79, a leading climate scientist, received emails from around the world condemning his decision to move to a sceptical think-tank
From MailOnline.com, By Wills Robinson, 05/15/14 –
- Professor Lennart Bengtsson received intense pressure ‘all over the world’
- Stepped down from Global Warming Policy Foundation’s advisory council
- Swedish academic had only been in the position for three weeks
- Think-tank was set up by former Tory Chancellor Lord Lawson
- Group has been accused of being sceptic towards climate-change policies

A globally-renowned climate scientist has been forced to step down from a think-tank after he was subjected to ‘Mc-Carthy’-style pressure from scientists around the world.
Professor Lennart Bengtsson, 79, a leading academic from the University of Reading, left the high-profile Global Warming Policy Foundation as a result of the threats, which he described as ‘virtually unbearable’.
The group was set up by former Tory Chancellor Lord Lawson and are sceptical about radical policy changes aimed at combating global warming.
Do we face a disastrous century due to global cooling?

Reports that there has been a sharp reduction in sunspot activity raises the possibility that Earth may be facing a period of global cooling. (AP File)
Are we facing a dangerous period of global cooling? That’s not a question that many have been asking. But reports that there has been a sharp reduction in sunspot activity raises that possibility. It has happened before. In his book Global Crisis: War, Climate Change & Catastrophe in the Seventeenth Century, historian Geoffrey Parker writes:
“The development of telescopes as astronomical instruments after 1609 enabled observers to track the number of sunspots with unprecedented accuracy.
New Report Undercuts Global Warming Alarmists
These sentences could have been written at the end of the day on Oct. 22, 1844, about the Millerites, a religious sect started in upstate New York. Preachers had told their followers that Jesus would return to earth that day. He failed to show.
But the subject here is not Millerism, but another kind of religious faith: the faith of the global warming alarmists. And while it’s not likely to have the impact of the Millerites’ Great Disappointment, we could be seeing the beginning of something similar on Sept. 27, when the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issues its fifth assessment report in Stockholm.
IPCC report: Britain could cool if Gulf Stream slows
Britain’s climate could get cooler over the next 80 years, a major UN report on global warming is to suggest.
4:15PM BST 26 Sep 2013 –
For the first time, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is due to give a clear prediction of how global warming will affect currents in the Atlantic Ocean.
It will say that the circulation of warm and cold water in the Atlantic, which includes the Gulf Stream, will weaken by 20 to 44 per cent by the end of the century.
300-Year Drought Was Downfall of Ancient Greece

From LiveScience.com, By Tia Ghose, 08/14/13 – A 300-year drought may have caused the demise of several Mediterranean cultures, including ancient Greece, new research suggests.
A sharp drop in rainfall may have led to the collapse of several eastern Mediterranean civilizations, including ancient Greece, around 3,200 years ago. The resulting famine and conflict may help explain why the entire Hittite culture, chariot-riding people who ruled most of the region of Anatolia, vanished from the planet, according to a study published today (Aug. 14) in the journal PLOS ONE.
Global Warming and Climate Change Are Not the Same Thing !!!
By Frank Williford –
Does Climate Change Cause Global Warming?
Does Global Warming Cause Climate Change?
Does Man Cause Global Warming?
Is Global Warming A Good Euphemism For Climate Change?
Before we dig into the details of the answers to the above questions let’s look at a few facts no scientist will dispute. The history of the earth is replete with notable cold glacial periods and warmer interglacial periods. These varying climatic periods have been primarily driven by changes in the earth’s elliptical orbit around the sun and by changes in the tilt and direction of the earth’s rotation which control the amount and distribution of sunlight striking the earth’s surface. Also, changes in the energy output of the sun during the five to ten year return period of sun spot cycles is a factor.
18 annual climate gabfests: 16 years without warming- OOPS
From CFACT.org, December 1, 2012 by Lord Christopher Monckton –
DELEGATES at the 18th annual UN climate gabfest at the dismal, echoing Doha conference center – one of the least exotic locations chosen for these rebarbatively repetitive exercises in pointlessness – have an Oops! problem.
No, not the sand-flies. Not the questionable food. Not the near-record low attendance. The Oops! problem is this. For the past 16 of the 18-year series of annual hot-air sessions about hot air, the world’s hot air has not gotten hotter. There has been no global warming. At all. Zilch. Nada. Zip. Bupkis.
Cult of Global Warming Is Losing Influence
From The Patriot Post, By Michael Barone (Archive) · Monday, October 24, 2011 – Religious faith is a source of strength in many people’s lives. But religious faith when taken too far can prove ludicrous — or disastrous.
On Oct. 22, 1844, thousand of Millerites, having sold all their possessions, climbed to the top of hills in Upstate New York to await the return of Jesus and the end of the world. They suffered “the great disappointment” when it didn’t happen. Continue reading →
