Why I Can Vote With a Clear Conscience

Thanks to Senator Blutarsky for bringing this post to our attention.

This is not directed at any one person…this is my way of trying to help others understand where myself and many others are coming from.

I want to caveat what I am saying with this thought.

I whole heartily agree you must vote your conscience and would never ask anyone to do otherwise. I am writing this to help you understand why I can also vote with a clear conscience.

Now for why….

Let’s get a few things established…God has used imperfect men throughout history. Moses and David murdered, David committed adultery, Abraham lied, and the list goes on, yet God chose to use them in positions of power.

If you have voted in any of the past elections, then you voted for the lesser of 2 evils. You have voted for the same coin, different side. Do your research on the Bushes…might make your hair stand on end.

Donald Trump and The Pharisees

When you finally come to the conclusion there is a God, you’re likely to try to attempt to please Him.

Max Lucado

           Max Lucado, Pharisee

And this is where it can get dangerous.  You might be on your way to the sanctuary for worship, and you see a man curled up by the side of the road, bloody and beaten by robbers.  Something tells you the man needs your help (that’s God talking to you), but you are wearing your Sunday best, and you’re not trained as a first responder, and you’ve been given the honor of opening today’s meeting in prayer, and, besides, this guy is probably a drug addict and you have little children you’re responsible for — so you hurry on to church and you prove that you have the spirit of the Pharisee — that weird inclination to ignore what Jesus called “the weightier matters of the law.”

The #NeverTrump movement is defined by this Pharisee spirit.  It is chock full of it.  Texas pastor Max Lucado is a great example.

The Flight 93 Election

flight 93 election decius journal of american greatness

2016 is the Flight 93 election: charge the cockpit or you die. You may die anyway. You—or the leader of your party—may make it into the cockpit and not know how to fly or land the plane. There are no guarantees.

Except one: if you don’t try, death is certain. To compound the metaphor: a Hillary Clinton presidency is Russian Roulette with a semi-auto. With Trump, at least you can spin the cylinder and take your chances.

Phil King Supporting Donald Trump

I’m supporting Donald Trump. I know he’s not perfect but he’s demonstrated at least three qualities that will make him a good president:

  1. He has strong leadership skills;
  2. He surrounds himself with competent advisors; and
  3. His core policy positions are sound.

Trump’s old blog shows very different views

Ten years ago, Donald Trump had a pretty open mind about gay marriage.

“If two people dig each other, they dig each other,” he wrote about the marriage of Elton John and longtime partner David Furnish. “I’m very happy for them.”

The December 2005 comment was posted on the “Trump Blog” that he maintained on the Trump University website, a kind of journal of Trump’s thoughts on everything from why he chose various contestants for Celebrity Apprentice to why women struggle in the workplace:

Many on the right have come forward in the past few days to outline why they will never vote for Trump, and their reasons are articulate, principled, eloquent, and moving. If it wasn’t already abundantly clear from the last eight months, let me join the chorus; I will never vote for Donald Trump.

Never.

The 1 man who can make our enemies fear us, again

From WND.com, By Fan Gordon, 02/12/15 –

Exclusive: Fan Gordon says Trump could right America if he finds his ‘inner Reagan’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Presidential elections are the breeding ground for hyperbole, but with regard to the foreign policy legacy that will be left to the next president by the current occupant of the White House, I believe it is fair to say we are facing one of the most dangerous periods in living memory.
Though born in the United States, I am a dual American and Israeli citizen, having been raised and grown to manhood in both countries. When I was of draft age I lived on a Kibbutz in Israel, where I had gone to high school, and was drafted into the ranks of the IDF in time to serve in the Yom Kippur War in October of 1973.
I have been a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces for 42 years, serving both in the regular army and reserves and participating in six wars during that period. In my career I have served in the Israel Air Force, as well as its ground forces. I have been in charge of all Israel Air Force training films and have been an armored infantry sniper and squad leader. Since 2002 I have served with the Military Spokesperson Unit and have been a spokesperson for the IDF in multiple conflicts, as well as a military analyst on virtually every major media outlet in the U.S. and Western Europe.
Last year I had the great privilege of being attached to one of Israel’s most elite combat units, The Givati Brigade, and became the oldest officer, at the age of 68, ever to qualify to wear their purple beret, presented to me personally by the Brigade’s commander, Col. Ofer Winter, who, I believe, almost single-handedly saved the State of Israel from one of the most existential threats it has ever faced. Someday, I hope the truth of his contribution to Israel’s security will be fully told.
Jeffress: My presence, prayer not an endorsement
From NewsOneNow.com, Steve Jordahl, February 3, 2016 –
Pastor Jeffress with Donald TrumpA well-known Southern Baptist pastor isn’t backing down after taking some heat for appearing on the campaign trail with Donald Trump.
OneNewsNow spoke with Dr. Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist-Dallas, after the Iowa caucuses and asked him about appearing with Trump at two in-state Christian colleges. Speaking at Dordt College on January 23, the pastor said: “Although as a pastor I cannot officially endorse a candidate, I would not be here this morning if I were not absolutely convinced that Donald Trump would make a great president of the United States.”
Jeffress is doubling down on that remark. “I don’t regret one thing I’ve done at all,” he tells OneNewsNow, “but I am not a part of the Trump campaign or any campaign.”
