Parker County Tea Party

The Parker County Tea Party was originally formed by Dawn King and Lynette McCracken on April 15, 2009 and rapidly grew to over 500 members.  “While attempts have been made to seize our good name and prestigious reputation, our 500 + loyal and steadfast members stand shoulder to shoulder in opposition to any attempt to steal or soil our good name.”

If you cherish the US Constitution and the God given rights and principles from which it came, we encourage you to join our ranks. Send your inquiries to this blog and we will see that you are contacted by a founding Parker County Tea Party member.  Stand with us as we say – Don’t Tread on Me!

Do you believe in –

Fiscal Responsibility: Fiscal Responsibility by government honors and respects the freedom of the individual to spend the money that is the fruit of their own labor. A constitutionally limited government, designed to protect the blessings of liberty, must be fiscally responsible or it must subject its citizenry to high levels of taxation that unjustly restrict the liberty our Constitution was designed to protect. Such runaway deficit spending as we now see in Washington D.C. compels us to take action as the increasing national debt is a grave threat to our national sovereignty and the personal and economic liberty of future generations.

Constitutionally Limited Government: We, the members of The Tea Party Patriots, are inspired by our founding documents and regard the Constitution of the United States to be the supreme law of the land. We believe that it is possible to know the original intent of the government our founders set forth, and stand in support of that intent. Like the founders, we support states’ rights for those powers not expressly stated in the Constitution. As the government is of the people, by the people and for the people, in all other matters we support the personal liberty of the individual, within the rule of law.

Free Markets: A free market is the economic consequence of personal liberty. The founders believed that personal and economic freedom were indivisible, as do we. Our current government’s interference distorts the free market and inhibits the pursuit of individual and economic liberty. Therefore, we support a return to the free market principles on which this nation was founded and oppose government intervention into the operations of private business.

  1. While I don’t believe this will sway any of you, as an economics major I have studied the principle of ‘market failure’ – which is most obvious in cases involving unpriced externalities (e.g. pollution) or abuse of market power (e.g. dominant industry players controlling an entire market to extract supernormal profits). Part of government is to protect the individual liberty of citizens from this kind of behaviour. But it seems this kind of behaviour is just that which the tea party seems to wish to protect.

There is no such thing as a free-market… all markets tend towards oligopoly at some point. Australia is a smaller market and has some of the worst oligopolies around, and government has only intervened to break up monopolies occasionally, less frequently than in the USA.

The fiscal problems of the united states, and individual states in particular, comprise three main aspects, military spending, healthcare costs and future unfunded social security and pension liabilities. I can’t believe that members the tea party will be for cuts to any of the above if they directly benefit from them. The easiest cut is the military budget… but I have never understood the tea party’s position on the two failed wars america has taken part in or how much the military budget should be cut…

    1. Economics is the study of the use of scarce resources which have other uses. I have no idea how unpriced externalities fit into the Austrailian’s Economy, There are many hinderences to production but they are calculated into the cost of production,
The “supernormal profits” (sounds like socialism to me) are motivation for developing alternative products, which will replace the over priced product.
I do not agree that there are three aspects of the USA’s current economic problem has one element: over spending in an attempt to assure reelection to office.
To be sure waste and fraud are expensive, but unwanted and unneeded programs for small segments of the population are the major cause of the failure to balance revenue and spending.

Congress was elected to make sound policy, and does not include getting reelected.

      1. Hating things (like socialism) without understanding what they are makes the Tea Party sound ignorant. Please educate yourself to at least form a complete thought before replying, sir.

  2. So is this site even monitored by the Parker County Tea Party? I see two(2) responses to you with no responses back I believe the same as you concerning your first two points.
I would add, that as a businessman if I am going to compete worldwide to sell my product … I need to be able to beat my competitors, with higher quality, cheaper prices, morally superior labor policies in any combination, necessary to turn a profit. I would love to be able to do this without government intervention …. Guess what America that is not going to happen, we can’t control our own government much less the other governments out there. Taxes and Excise, Import, Export all are going to be there and governments are the ones that are going to control that, even our government under the guize of freedom is really not! Look at all the international laws out there today to take down free capitalism and destroy it. For us to compete freely the playing ground needs to be free, open and equal, the only country that stands a chance of doing that would be us, but no other countries are going to play because it is not in their interest to do so, or at least that is what their econimists all tell them. The theme is simple get the politicians, lawyers and economists out of this game and we might stand a chance. How about it Parker County Tea Party are you there and please don’t be anonomous let us know your name in the name of free and open society that we should be. Jack C. Pickard

    1. Regulation doesn’t happen because government is wonderful – it happens because free market capitalism isn’t perfect. U.S. history is rife with examples of how business leaders always become greedy over time and are willing to sacrifice the “little guy” with:
–Lower wages for the middle and working classes
      –Impossible productivity standards
–Tax breaks for businesses (that are rarely create decent paying jobs)
–Outsourcing middle and working class jobs
–Reduced competition (e.g. agribusiness replacing farmers)
–Reduced concern for product quality & consumer safety
–General disregard for the health of individuals and their communities

Yet, for all the negatives, capitalism is currently the only system that is sustainable – perhaps someday we’ll have something better. Perhaps we’ll have a system that can regulate the greed of men better than local/state/federal politicians have been able to, so that people can be almost as important as profits. I’m not holding my breath, though. For leaders to care, they have to listen to people, but not enough people really care.
–We are eager to complain, but too lazy to get involved
–We are easily manipulated by emotion and rhetorical speeches
–We never question the source of their party’s or their media’s “facts”
–We are prejudiced to our own color, religion, political party, etc
–We hate opinions that are different from their party’s
–We are easily bullied into conformity and silence of dissent

For Texas to progress away from the cult of “business as usual” and elect a true leader instead of a divisive dictator, we need to remind our current local and state politicians to do what is right – not just what is right for the Republican party. If that means electing a qualified Democrat or Libertarian, then so be it. The Tea Party shouldn’t align itself so closely with ANY political party if it really concerned with the best interest of the citizens. It is, after all, the Republicans in charge of this state that are responsible for many of the problems affecting us poor peons. Always saying it’s “liberals” or “Washington’s” fault has gotten old. It’s time we ditch the B.S. and start holding ALL politicians accountable for providing a better future for ALL middle and lower income families – regardless of color.

The Parker County Tea party can focus on holding politicians accountable for changing things for the better or they can continue to spew negativity, hate, finger pointing, and self-righteous B.S. – but you can’t complain your way to success.

The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn’t work and then they get elected and prove it.
      P.J. O’Rourke

  3. Jack, my name is Dawn L. King, I am a tax payin citizen of Parker County and the Organizer for the TEA Party Patriots of Parker County. You asked if we are here… yes, we have been here since April 15, 2009 fighting against the ever escalating taxes in our city, county, state and federal government. We are ordinary, hard working Americans sick to death of “politics as usual” on every level of government. We have fought in City Councils, Commissioners Court, rallied in Fort Worth and Austin and we have marched in Washington. We are the heartbeat of America. We are ordinary people in a desperate fight to take back our country from enemies wanting its destruction. We are joined by millions around this country (and world) trying to slow down and eventually stop the progessive, communist agenda. We must be somewhat effective for the far left to attack us the way the do. To have elected politicians shout that they wish the TEA Party would “go to hell” should be a sign that we are making them a bit uncomfortable with their agenda. So Jack, we are here, and have been here and will continue to fight. Why don’t you join us, we always need another Patriot! facebook: parker county tea party

    1. teabaggers need to get a life and some of us love watching our Cowboys play, even on monday night.

      1. You Sir are a tried and true Jack Ass

    2. Cool Dawn great answer … I just expected to see a lot more on this forum so thought I would prod a bit for a response. I would like to submit the following to you for comment:

I received this from a local friend and gratefully acknowledge the truth of it and pass it on to all my friends hoping you can find the will to do the same. Thanks Jack C. Pickard, USCG Senior Chief Retired.

Hopefully this will generate some traffic on this site, I lived this a bit myself complete with spit from a protester in the San Francisco Airport way back in 1970 … I know it happened and the incidents sited above were reported yesteryear, perhaps the next time you see a Vietnam Veteran, or a Vietnam Era Veteran which is what I am, you can take a moment to see what they remember of those days. Thanks Jack

Thank you all. Many died in Vietnam for our freedoms. I did not like Jane Fonda then and I don’t like her now.
She can lead her present life the way she wants and perhaps SHE can forget the past, but we DO NOT have to stand by without comment and see her “honored” as a “Woman of the Century.”
      (I remember this well)
For those who served and/or died.. . .
NEVER FORGIVE A TRAITOR. SHE REALLY WAS A TRAITOR!!
and now President OBAMA wants to honor her……!!!!
In Memory of LT. C..Thomsen Wieland who spent 100 days at the Hanoi Hilton [Famous North Vietnam Prison]
IF YOU NEVER FORWARDED ANYTHING IN YOUR LIFE FORWARD THIS SO THAT EVERYONE WILL KNOW!!!!!!
A TRAITOR IS ABOUT TO BE HONORED. KEEP THIS MOVING ACROSS AMERICA
This is for all the kids born in the 70’s and after who do not remember, and didn’t have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older brothers and sisters had to bear.
Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the ‘100 Women of the Century..’
      BARBARA WALTERS WRITES:
Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country, but specific men who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War.
The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot. The pilot’s name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison the ‘ Hanoi Hilton.’ Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ’s, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American ‘Peace Activist’ the ‘lenient and humane treatment’ he’d received. He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was dragged away. During the subsequent beating, he fell forward on to the camp Commandant ‘s feet, which sent that officer berserk. In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from double vision (which permanently ended his flying career) from the Commandant’s frenzied application of a wooden baton.
From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E’s). He spent 6 years in the ‘ Hanoi Hilton’,,, the first three of which his family only knew he was ‘missing in action’. His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and clothed routine in preparation for a ‘peace delegation’ visit. They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they were alive and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number on it, in the palm of his hand. When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man’s hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: ‘Aren’t you sorry you bombed babies?’ and ‘Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?’ Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper. She took them all without missing a beat.. At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper…Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost number four but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions that day.
I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam , and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years. I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia ; and one year in a ‘black box’ in Hanoi . My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Banme Thuot , South Vietnam , whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs) We were Jane Fonda’s ‘war criminals….’When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi , I was asked by the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with her. I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs received… and how different it was from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as ‘humane and lenient.’ Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched with a large steel weight placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane. I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released.. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She never did answer me.
These first-hand experiences do not exemplify someone who should be honored as part of ‘100 Years of Great Women.’ Lest we forget….’ 100 Years of Great Women’ should never include a traitor whose hands are covered with the blood of so many patriots.
There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but Hanoi Jane’s participation in blatant treason, is one of them. Please take the time to forward to as many people as you possibly can.. It will eventually end up on her computer and she needs to know that we will never forget.

      1. I am a COMBAT veteran myself and let me tell you something that someone once told me:
I pray that you will find healing to overcome the anger of your past, the compassion to forgive those who may have wronged you, the strength to stop judging others, and ability to recognize that you were never perfect either.

I don’t mean to criticize you brother, but in that war we were all victims of stupidity. Let’s not be victims again by spreading hate and bullsh*t:
        http://www.factcheck.org/2010/11/blame-jane-falsehoods/

I’m not saying I like JF either. I don’t. But I despise lying to make your point. A man is only as honorable as his worst lie.

“I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you.”

      2. Aaron missed this some time back. But would suggest lowering yourself to call someone a liar indicates your foolishness not mine. I have numerous witnesses to the acts specified and cited as legitimate sources by multiple news agencies that would indicate that your fact check source has an agenda and is the real spreader of fertilizer. I stand by my sources and understand you are a progressive, just because you fought in a war does not always make you right, but I certainly do appreciate and defend your right to be wrong. You fought for that privilege, but a patriot goes on to defend the truth the best he can with the verified historical facts and I shall never defend a traitor to America that I consider Jane Fonda to be!

      3. Hum, look who is falsely judging here.

  4. Rocketman9495 obviously does not understand smaller goverment jucicious spending or devotion to the constitution.

His use of the homosexual slang term indicates that he has a limited concept of life, and if he enjoys watchin the pitiful perormance of the Cowboys, he must have a sort of perversion.

  5. Well the Laurel AND Hardy team are at work again. Parker County at it’s best. What are the punishments for incompetence on the Job.
If you are paid to perform a service and fail to perform what should the consequences be? Who hired these guys at the appraisal District? I would hate to think that we will have these folks next year, How could you trust them ever again?

    1. I didn’t know if you were talking about W’ford City Counsel, Commissioners Court or the Appraisal District… thanks for clarifying. I understand the Appraisal District has raised the values of our homes in order to create more revenue for their budget. I am a Realtor here in Parker County and find that extremely interesting since our home prices have dropped like a brick in the past 3 years!!! Anyone in the market to buy a house is definitely getting a bargin. During this year I have been on 7 listing appointments and after educating the Home Owners on the dropping values of the homes in Parker County they decided the couldn’t AFFORD to sell their homes. They would have to bring money to closing.
So, do me a favor… the Commissioners are interviewing for a vacant Appraisal seat. Go put in your application!

  6. again I approach the issue of county budgets and tax funding. The very existence of a property tax still does not ring of equal and fair taxation. One lady at the budget meeting held at commissioners court, struck me as very important and gave a strong statement that all should heed. My house will always be in jeopardy even tho it has been paid for years ago. So what is the answer to this inherent problem in our system? Sales tax? what are th drawbacks here?

    1. I agree – it is ridiculous to have to pay never-ending taxes on your home especially when you don’t use 90% of the services you are getting taxed on!! Why should I always pay an ISD tax? I don’t have kids in school! Aren’t I paying for city improvements with additional fees and taxes on my utilities?! What about that local sales tax? Where does it go? What does the state and fed do with all the sales and income tax we give them?!? Why do businesses get tax abatement and end up paying less than citizens?!! Perhaps if we scrutinized a bit more, we’d find the leaks in our local and state governments – conservatives my arse!

  7. I believe in the sales tax as the only tax it is pay as you go … if you consume you pay it period. No exemptions to the sales tax would be the best way to eliminate any catch 22’s profit / non-profit / individual / corporation every entity would pay my sales tax. All other taxes Fed/State/County/State taxes eliminated. All government entities would share in the sales tax based on their slice of the pie responsibility. All government entities would be required to submit balanced budgets annually, with no deficit spending. Your entity runs out of money you lay off people and cut expences until the beginning of the next budget year!!! The first 50%

  8. of tax must pay off existing debts until all debt has been eliminated

  9. Where does this leave us on education and the ever growing requirement of ‘do it for the kids’. the kids that I have been around do not appreciate sacrifice, and it seems to instill a sense of entitlement. Just an old man’s observation. How can we put a little personal resposibility back in the education of the ‘Kids’ They seem to grow up blameing others for their lack of success, that is kind of like throwing a tantrum in the store for a new toy that is wanted but not needed. Where do we draw the line on spending to appease the non tax paying, Oh I know they are paying some tax by proxy in higher rent and higher prices in general but that is just a consequence of low productivity on their part. What would be the way to determine ROI on a deal like that ?

  10. Stan sounds like the “Kids” you are talking about aren’t working anyway, so some parent is supporting them somewhere … the stark reality is this world is currently at a real 49% unemployed and that counts everybody that doesn’t draw from a payroll or pay taxes and those kids are going to suffer the consequences of the unemployment rate until small business begins hiring people again, so they will continue to be an anchor around societies neck because they have no clue as what to do next and parents that as usual have failed their duties to help them figure it out. We certainly don’t owe these types of kids and education let them join the military and learn a new skill if they wish to become useful.
    .

  11. I read somewhere, I remember it well, but can’t seem to remember where, That respect and religion are best taught before the age of 6, If not done by then you have lost their attention for the majority of their productive years.

  12. JOE versus JOSE
You have two families: “Joe Legal” and “Jose Illegal”. Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California .

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash “under the table”.

    Ready? Now pay attention….

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

    Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.0 0 per year.
Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics and emergency hospitals at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps, WIC and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $9,631.00.

Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month Federal Rent Subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for car insurance. Some of that is uninsured motorist insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.

Jose Illegal says, “We don’t need no stinkin’ insurance!” and still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc..

Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month..

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal’s and Jose Illegal’s children both attend the same elementary school. Joe Legal pays for his children’s lunches, while Jose Illegal’s children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal’s children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal’s children go home.

Now, when they reach college age, Joe Legal’s kids may not get into a State School and may not qualify for scholarships, grants or other tuition help, even though Joe Legal has been paying for State Schools through his taxes, while Jose Illegal’s kids “go to the head of the class” because they are a minority.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

    Do you get it, now?

If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens… You are part of the problem!

We need to make changes ASAP!
    We are destroying ourselves.

    1. Started reading this b/c I thought you were going to do a truthful comparison. Boy, am I gullible.

      I stopped right here:

“Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage…”

HAHAHAHAHA – You evidently have no brain if you believe this without question.

I work EVERY DAY in a hospital in Ft. Worth. Illegal immigrants have access to ER, yes, because Fed law says so, but ERs at ANY hospital deliver just enough treatment to non-insured just to get them out the door alive – certainly not FULL medical. NEVER any dental – ABSOLUTELY NEVER.

After reviewing the rest of your little article, I found all of it to be lies or only partial truths. Why do conservatives cherry pick facts, add ignorance, and then not bother to check the sources of their B.S.? The answer of course is that they believe what they want others (that look like them) to believe – and it’s easier to hate others when you don’t have to admit anything positive about them.

Do you want meat and produce and all your food prices to skyrocket?
Do you want to pay higher construction costs for homes, infrastructure, buildings?
Do you want taxes (of which they DO contribute) to skyrocket?
Do you want them to pay SS and Medicare and thus become eligible for THOSE broken systems too?
Do you want to pay more for restaurants & hotels?
Do you want to pay more for services such as cleaning?
      OR…
Do you want to enjoy the artificial subsidies of the above industries and thousands more?

If you like lower prices or support anyone that likes cutting costs, YOU are part of the problem

      Listen Texans,
We need a Tea Party of people that can think for themselves and will scrutinize the B.S., please – not people that let ignorance and prejudices prevail.

  13. Thanks Stan, I will forward that one concerning illegals on facebook, probably one of the best breakdowns I have seen as to the effect of legal vs illegal. It is dramatic, accurate and a crime that needs to be fixed.

  14. Misjudging the Iranian Threat

    Emil Maine

As the Obama Administration has discovered, containing Iran’s nuclear ambitions and support for terrorism and insurgencies requires more than Washington’s willingness to “extend [its] hand.” As Heritage’s Kim Holmes points out, Iran’s foiled plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador on U.S. soil illustrates that Iran’s leaders don’t fear Barack Obama or the “isolation” his Administration promises. The plot also highlights the disturbing consequences of Obama’s “good cop/confused cop” strategy on Iran. While the Obama Administration continues to maintain that all options remain on the table, Washington’s public downplay of the military option undermines its ability to threaten consequences.

What emboldened Iran to attempt such a brazen act on U.S. soil?

In a 2009 video address aimed at Iran’s people, President Obama said his Administration was committed to diplomacy that pursued “constructive ties” between the two countries. But Washington’s willingness to hold diplomatic talks was never really the problem. President George W. Bush’s Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, held the door open for such talks. Tehran’s rejection of diplomatic engagement has less to do with who is in the White House than with Tehran’s fears that opening up to America and the West will breathe life into the democratic aspirations of the Iranian people.

The Obama Administration has misjudged a dangerous adversary. The foiled plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in our nation’s capital demonstrates that the regime’s threats are real, and it is willing to take considerable risks in launching a high-profile terrorist attack for marginal gains. Containing Iran’s ambitions will be difficult, particularly since Obama’s strategy has not garnered sufficient international support to impose the “crippling sanctions” that the Administration promised, and Russia and China continue to delay and dilute sanction efforts in the U.N. Security Council.

Washington can neither credibly threaten the use of force nor forge meaningful international pressure. And that is perhaps what is most disquieting about Obama’s strategy on Iran.

    1. Stan,
      Three concerns:
      1. Where exactly in the US Constitution do we have the legal authority to undertake a pre-emptive strike on a foreign country, without a declaration of war…by congress, not the UN (as I assume that is what your suggesting)?
      2. Who is going to pay for it (I’m sure you would agree that we are broke)?
      3. We went toe to toe with the 2nd largest superpower the world has ever seen and did not need to invade or attack them. The soviet’s had Thousands of more nukes than the Iranians will ever have and we did not invade or attack them. We kept ourselves protected and we waited for them to implode. We fear Iran more than Soviet Russia??? Isreal has thousands of Nukes and if they want to attack…so be it. But our laws do not allow it. We must be consistent in our fight. We live and we die by our ability to defend the constitution. Don’t be so quick to throw it away, it is not antiquated nor is this situation any more dire than those we faced off the shores of Cuba in the 1960’s. We are strong and we are moral. It is not our job to use our “best judgment” or our “gut” or even our educated “opinion”. We as Americans do not need an opinion on these matters…we only need the CONSTITUTION. It will see us through, and unless you can answer my first question, I can not support any military action that breaches, bends or breaks the rule of law that so many before us have died for!

      1. Joshua – couldn’t agree more. Didn’t we learn about chasing phantom WMD’s in Iraq? Besides, every new administration has the right to reach out to any regime even if their predecessor had no luck (it’s not like “W” was feared or even respected, either).

Can’t believe I wasted my time reading that article, but I did learn 3 things:

        1) Emil Maine has a 3rd grade understanding of basic diplomacy.

        2) Kim Holmes can read minds. (“Iran’s leaders don’t fear Barack Obama…”. Really? You know this for a fact? Oh… no, it’s just an “analysis” – that’s how you are allowed to pass this off as fact. My bad.)

        3) Heritage Foundation just follows typical media bias:
        A) Be overly critical about the other party
        B) Do not offer any sensible suggestions, advice, recommendations, ideas, solutions, alternatives, or realistic insight
        C) Pass opinions off as fact
        D) Repeat

  15. Joshua, you can try to read between the lines all that your little liberal heart desires. the point is not support for a war in the UN but support for further sanctions is not there from China and Russia, so additional sanctions are off the table. Emboldened by this situation Iran will continue to chip away with Terror and attacks around the world against US and UK interests. What the constitution does allow for is the certainty that we can and will wreek massive havoc if provoked. Deterrance through a strong, just, and certain military is what kept the cold war with Russia a cold war, where this is different is Russians didn’t want certain death at any cost, Iran believes it can stand the damage and better survive, the more martyrs the better. The US has for a long time not realized that the world value of life is far below the value that we place on life. The leadership of these United States is showing weakness by decisions and actions that have been made, and taken. Now to make myself clear if your mother told you no and then no the next time, and the next time, and the next time……..ect. are you going to stop, or are you going to stop when daddy spanks some butt.

    1. Stan,
I have long thought the “liberal” and the “Neo-Con” to be the same beast, different name. I am neither! Ayn Rand and Barry Goldwater are my defining (virtual) mentors. But to address your points: Iran would be completely, utterely, totally, 100% annihilated if they ever succeded with a dirty bomb or the sort. You know this, I know this, Ahmadinejad knows this, don’t be silly! Although I found the invasion of the 2 middle eastern countries to be completely unconstitutional, it did serve a purpose. The Soviet deterent you spoke of is alive and well in the form of dictator deaths. Bush and Obama have killed directly or indirectly multiple heads of state over the past decade and the Iranian president is not blind to this. That cruel dictator puts on a strong face for his people but we both know he is probably shaking in his boots thinking…what if we’re next? You think he would do anything to bring about the absolute destruction of his land, his bank account, his mistresses, his cars, his oceanfront home? Your not thinking, your listening to fear propoganda and war-mongering? Crazy Muslim Jihadists need to be monitored and if need be, AR-15 would work nicely. But to think that this “country” full of moms and dads wants to go up in a mushroom cloud just to strike a pin-prick at the infidels is ignorance! Shake off the fear brother, the only thing that can topple our nations military…is our nations military’s greed and desire for more money (US military budget is greater than that of the ENTIRE rest of the world). Obama’s financial agenda is more threatening to our safety than some desert filled country thousands of miles away, Obama’s handling of the border is more threatening to our country than sharia-law, Wouldn’t you agree? Let me conclude with this, either way it matters not. Iran is gone! We will either pre-emptively attack them or wait until that mosquito pricks and then attack them. Either way, Iran is gone! You will get your blood, just be patient. And oh, by the way…it will be Unconstitutional.
Suggested book: Conscience of a Conservative, Barry Goldwater. Read it and you’ll know what a real conservative is? Its not what your portraying.
On a side note…Iran can save themselves from utter destruction by doing one thing. America has never invaded a Nuclear country, NEVER! In fact, once a country goes nuclear, we shower them with money (see also Pakistan, India, China, etc.). Think about an alternate reason for IRAN to get a nuke? I don’t want this, but just think about it? Maybe…if they get one…they may use it as a…deterent…see also Soviet Russia. I’m no liberal, I’m a Constitutional Conservative in the Goldwater / Paul mold…you just haven’t seen many recently so you forgot where we came from. God Bless our Founders and God Bless America

      1. “Ayn Rand and Barry Goldwater are my defining (virtual) mentors. ”

Ah, then you are a TRUE conservative (Prior to all that “religious right”, Ronald Reagan, Karl Rove & Mickey Mouse B.S.) Good luck getting the party back from the nutcases. I’ve all but given up.

“The victor will never be asked if he told the truth.”

“How fortunate for leaders that men do not think.”

“It is always more difficult to fight against faith than against knowledge.”

“The broad masses of a population are more amenable to the appeal of rhetoric than to any other force.”

“If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.”

  16. What’s an isolationist?

    1. An Isolationist is, a President of these United States, that does not protect the citizens of this country from undue threats or dangers from other countries of this planet. I interpret the US Constitution to say that it is the Presidents duty to do this. I see no limitations in the US Constitution that specifically limits the President from making a pre-emptive strike, if non-action would result in Grave Destruction of all or part of this great Country. To not take this action would make you the worst of all isolationist Presidents. I believe the preamble of the Constitution on its own gives the President the authority to do what is necessary against reckless foreign actions: “insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves”. So again isolationist will take none of the actions necessary to even serve the preamble of their own Constitution, they are sworn to protect.
The President, the Congress and the Supreme Court when working together for the greater good of this country have a great document to work with here. But, as history shows, when one of these branches goes off track, the damage becomes near debilitating. One such example is the 16th amendment to the US Constitution which is the main reason why we are financially where we are today. We gave away the bank too the Federal Government on February 3, 1913 and we the citizens have paid dearly for this travesty ever since. Back, then it should have been a temporary authorization to fund a WAR and recover from a Depression, but with this amendment the whole government took advantage of the emotion of the times and formed an imperfect union, that could go on to socialize rather than maintain the great Republic we were. Today, their is no such thing as a temporary tax, once they are there they do not go away and every bureacrat that this government has formed is taught from day one to learn how to justify the justification to expand their greed within their office.

      1. An isolationist is a President that has the brains and courage to put the problems of this country FIRST, and – if another country poses a true threat – only go to war when all other reasonable attempts have failed. Very few presidents have the skill or political courage to do this anymore.

Just because we have the authority to use a powerful military, doesn’t mean we should go looking for trouble. Use your brain more and your balls less – there is ALWAYS going to be an Iraq or a North Korea or an Iran in this world. Always has been, always will be. It is naive and downright stupid to suggest we should invade every country that we don’t get along with. If that was the case, we’d be perpetually burying our children and paying higher taxes every year while politicians and corporations laugh their way to the bank with our trillions wasted over the world’s greatest pissing contest.

And I agree there is no temporary tax – neither do we have temporary toll roads anymore. Thank you Rick Perry!

  17. Would that be Ron Paul? maybe ayn rand, goldwater, and Joshua?

    1. Jack,
What if “insure domestic tranquility” ment the opposite of what your implying? What if war with Iran was war with China and Russia as well. What if continued fighting did not keep us safe, but brought the wrath and retaliation of the world upon us. What if our INSANLY huge military budget brought our empire (I know, we’re supposed to be a Republic, but we both know that ended in 1913) to its knees? What if your correct desire to see the 16th and might I add 17th ammendments removed, but leave the HORRIBLE “war powers act” meant certain doom for my children? That feeling in my gut isn’t fear of a terrorist attack, its the fear of our leaders driving us into oblivion, financially.

How did Soviet Russia fall (spred to thin militarily = economically).

How did the British empire fail (spred to thin militarily = economically).

Rome, France, Prussia, Ottoman empire, Nazi Germany, etc, etc, etc. Why is this sooo hard for us American’s to understand.

Let me make this simple, we could cut half of our military spending and still have 5x that of China!!! We are hemoraging money and 1/3 is going towards the bloated US military industrial complex. That’s not just military, but covert operations, foreign bribes (I mean aid), etc, etc, etc. It’s not isolationist, its American 1st. Buy American, protect America, invest in America and most of all, defend the constitution!

I my humble opinion, you cannot be “almost pregnant”, you cannot be “kinda Christian” and you cannot support “some of the constitution”. The preamble is not law and the “war powers act” give king-like authority to one man. What if that man decided to bomb the beloved Isreal? Or confiscated part of Canada? You see, this is why you cannot rule like this. We live and die by our ability to “CORRECTLY” interperet the Constitution.

Iran is a mute point anyway as I fear financial catastrophy makes a military venture there impossible. God Bless our Founders and God Bless the Constitution.

      1. Joshua, I will let you live in your world, I will live in mine with a lot more people to cover my back than I think you will have in your world to cover your back.

    2. Stan,
I think I am an Isolationist. I have read 2 wonderful books in the past year (John Adams Biography and Founding Brothers). Not to mention the Rand / Goldwater books and I really think that is what we’re supposed to do. Multinational / Transnationalism is nothing to be proud of. It lowers our standard of living and removes fair, true, capatilistic competition. Our founders kinda wanted isolationism. Why is that Liberal (which I’m not)! America first, why does FOX news tell me thats wrong. Why is ending the perks given to companies who move to China a bad thing. Why is feeling bad for a 37% suicide rate jump, among active duty soldiers un-American. No candidate…not even Obama, has received more campaign contributions from military men and woman than the one “isolationist” Ron Paul. I am here to talk, not campaign, so I will not mention him as a candidate…but doesn’t that say something?

  18. Let’s put this on a smaller scale. Lets’s say that you live in small town USA. There are a lot of good things there, but you have a group of people that are intent ontaking everything that you have. Now assuming you have friends that help you out from time to time, but you all agree that protecting your your home is each individuals resposibility because it would be too expensive and dangerous for all to come to the aid of each other. Now our rowdy group targets your house and is bent on taking it from you at any cost, so they block your driveway. no big deal right? you figure a way around that and continue to live your life. These thugs think about that (they can think you know) and decide that you are not going to do anything and you are alone in your house, just your family no one else is coming to your aid. Let’s see what is the next step for these nice new friends that you now have. you turn your back, the rowdy bunch moves in and when you get home, you have no home. Bully of the town now has your place totally under control. I’ve watched people be intimidated for years. There are people out there that do not have your values, nor your best interest at heart. Is it our job to protect each other I believe that it is, so I am not an isolationist. And I don’t think that protection is better hired out,
On the larger scale we have to provide a support system, do I think we can buy off these countries that hate us and take our money and kill our young men NO. but to ignore as idle threats the words spoken against us in other countries is like ignoring the bully at school hoping he will forget you are there, but he never does. O by the way I don’t know how we got on the military but mor important to me right now is the billions of dollars being spent to cronies of this admin. on unproven technolgies. And have you read the story about the Bakken oil field in the Dakotas. Jobs and the private sector is the way out of national debt. I have been reading campaign histories where I can find good historical accounts, and amazingly the same issues are still popping up today as yesterday.

Read a couple of accounts on the barry the early 1964. From what I have read I probably would have had a hard time voting for him also.

    1. Stan,
There is a great podcast on i-tunes called “my history can beat up your politics”. It’s a series that tackles different topics each week and how they are not new. State provided health care (access to Dr.’s) was debated by Jefferson and his cohorts when writing the charter for the University of Virginia. Theres more but to your scenario about the thugs…I agree 100%. But your scenario is not what we actually face. Tell me if I’m wrong but wouldn’t it be fair to say that Iran is to the US, what a Mole would be to my house? Or a wild boar in the neighborhood. It could catch me off gaurd and it could do some damage to my house, but it is not taking it over? We are Goliath…not David! My philosophy is not one of “turn the other cheek” for everything. Its all about perspective and I feel that the neo-conservative right and increasingly, the progressive left, are trumping up the size of that mole in the yard so we as American’s will pump out our chest and say…SHOOT THAT MOLE, IT’S GONNA GET MY KIDS…SHOOT IT QUICK OR WE’RE ALL DOOOOOMED? And of course our 15 rifles, 11 shotguns, 2 ATV’s and 25 pistols aren’t enough to kill the mole already….so can you please send us more Lockheed or Northrup? Its the perspective that seems to be off with so many of us proud American’s. Can we defend our nation against a desert mole, without taxing my childrens future away and giving it to the military industrial complex. Perspective? I think we both desire security and wish our neighbors well…I simply see that security that so many crave being, well, actually diminished by bombing and shooting and invading country after country after country. How many nations have we killed people in since WWII? 5, 15, 50??? And at what cost. We didn’t even have much of a standing army going into WWII and it took us no more than 4 years to mobilize, attack and WIN!!! We have natural resources out the wazu (and what we don’t have Canada does 😉

I like the conversation, I love America and I hope we can continue the talk.

  19. Well Sir, I read your understanding of the Constitution and I rest my case. Even the players that wrote it have many interpretations as to its meaning. Jeffersonian, Franklynaized, etc etc etc., history shows better than anyone on this site, what actually was in the heart of the writers, or does it? Bottom line, with the exception of the Bible perhaps it is one of the most interpreted or misinterpreted documents in the history of the world. Ah, but that would be what Mankind does. I can only interpret the documents based on my own upbringing and present that here in this domain. I am thankful, that we are both able to do exactly that along with the other members of this domain because this is the United States of America. I learn from you and all the other contributors, where we are today. I think this forum in most cases will agree we do not like where Obama has taken us and are only trying to sort out before the primaries who we want to back as his competition.

  20. Well the conversation is changed, I still don’t trust the bas$$$$ds to stay in the mideast but enough of that. I was going back over ‘The Road to Serfdom’ again, hard to get it all in one reading so here we go again. There is a lot of good info spread over throughout. If you are a true capitalist or just wish you were read this book.

    1. Stan,
I read Hayek this Summer and had a hard time with the comprehension. I am an Austrian, not a Keynsian…so I love his work, just dry reading. There is another more modern economist I have been supporting for 4-5 years now, his name is Peter Schiff and besides being a bit aggressive when interviewed, he has it right on. Finally (and this has changed my world) you need to read or re-read Atlas Shrugged. I mentioned Rand before but I was not talking “fountain head”. Soooo many things that are occuring now seem to be taken DIRECTLY from Ayn’s book. Its like 1984, in it’s modern parallels.

      1. I’ve read some of schiffs on line ideas, listened to his radio show.

  21. Fellas,
How in the name of all that is holy can we possibly “fix the world” when we can’t or won’t take the effort to fix our own Parker County Government? Get real and get real close to home. We start fixing the world by fixing our own County Government first. Remember the saying “from the smallest acorn, the mighty oak tree grows”? I believe that our duty is to plant that acorn right here in Parker County Texas. Do you approve of giving ALL county employees a
$2.00 match for ech $1.00 they save when the national industry standard is a $0.50 match if a match is given at all? I know that charity begins at home, but I think this is obscene. We have a $1 Million dollar senior citizens building the County Judge bought that is being used for what, by whom? We pay for its upkeep and get no rent or lease money. We have over $4 Million in unpaid fines from Parker Copunty Courts, we have $500,000 in delinquent property taxes, etc. ad nausium. We need to fix the local gov. before we can even think about fixing the Federal SNAFU.
    Jack Cavenah

  22. Jack, why didn’t you run for judge? I agree we do need to start at home and change our local reps if they are not representing us. But, there was a legal vote who put the people in office that are their now, so all you can do at the moment is what you are doing until you can put up or shut up and get someone else in their! As for the Senior Center; have you ever been there? Every time I have gone it was full of people and volunteers, serving about 67,000 meals per year with donated money not county money, which saves 200,000 dollars per year off the public’s back, so I think that maybe you should find a rea

    1. real albatros out their, in case you hadn’t noticed the Senior Center is trying to raise its own funds to build a larger more suitable building to serve the seniors of this county and yeah I am sure the old county farm location really torques you off also, but you know what thats just too bad! If you have no respect for your Seniors thats your problem, not Parker Counties Problem. Believe me there are plenty of good reasons not to like our current County Government.

      1. Sorry, this is all broken up, for some reason the WordPress is not friendly to my computer old MS VISTA 64 bit, so I lose my typing window quickly. Which is a good thing I guess as I get into my soapbox. Jack I support what you say on this forum, I just don’t always agree with what you say and sometimes it gets to far into the hate thing for me, but again you are good for the forum and do give us things to talk about.

  23. You don’t even begin to comprehend where I am coming from. I don’t hate seniors, Hell’s bells, at 73 yrs. 9 mos. of age, I figure I am qualified to talk about seniors because I am one. We can’t afford to just keep spending everybody else’s money in this County as we have in the past. We damned sure do not need to be in the real estate business either. I think that the 10 acres alotted to the senior citizens group at the poor farm as you call it,is an above average contribution to any organization. How much is ten acres of good land worth in Parker County? It isn’t cheap by any stretch of the imagination. I didn’t and won’t run for public office because I consider myself too old and that is, or should be, a young man’s game. I also would not be a good fit with leftover office holders because I am honest to a fault, and that doesn’t fit in with the normal scheme of things in the political arena. You only address the seniors’ center. Does the fact that we don’t collect fines and delinquent property taxes not upset you at all? Doesn’t the 2 for 1 match for retirement plans rankle you at all? It’s your money and mine, and public servants are getting a “golden retirement plan” at our expense. At the County Judges rate of pay,the 2 for 1 plan will net approximately $30,000 in additional income a year for him alone. Is he worth it to you? He certainly isn’t to me, nor is anyone else on the County payroll. There are plenty of albatrosses out there and I consider the senior citizens center the least of them. I always do “put up” and never “shut up”. Where are you and your soapbox at County Commissioners’ meetings and TEA Party meetings? I haven’t seen you at any of them, and surely haven’t heard you speak at one of them. If you aren’t part of the solution, you are most certainly part of the problem. I’m doing my best to resolve some of these costly issues with the help of others who think it a worthwhile cause. Why don’t you quit the idle griping and join us?
    Jack Cavenah

    1. Well to start off I am not the one griping you are Jack, and again I have been to the Court house on at least three occasions through the last year, I will see you tomorrow night at the Tea Party Meeting. Sometimes we all don’t have the luxury of spare time for everything we would like to participate in, soooo sorry I can’t have perfect attendance like you do Mr Cavenah. I will be interested as to how you will circumvent the legal election that took place and fix our current county budget problems, I am just simply as possible saying next election is when I will vote to change County State and Federal Politicians.

  24. Jack sounds like you and JC got the county under control.

    1. Thanks Stan, but not without you and the rest of the voting public here in Parker County, going from the Dark Side to the true conservative side. No new taxes, cut current taxes by 25%. Term Limits for all Local, State and Feds. No abortions. A Balanced budget submitted and approved a full six month before the budget is to go in to effect at the local, State, and Fed. Only one School Board for each county in the State of Texas you know kinda of like we only have one Hospital District Per County. Throw out all regulations that were not written and approved by an elected official.

      1. Jack C. Pickard

No laws are permanent anymore and subject to constitutional review every 10 years by elected officials. All elected officials have the same retirement/medical system, SSA/Medicare/Medicaid as the rest of us. If they want better than that get a real job and pay for it.

  25. I wish we did. Some folks just don’t understand that the county budget is NOT set in stone and line items can be changed up or down as the Court wishes, just by a majority vote of the court. I don’t intent to wait until next year to have that bilbous budget changed. If you do, don’t get in the way of others who are going to fight as best we can to implement change not only to the current budget, but how it is arrived at in the future. Citizen input has not been welcome in the past and I doubt it will be welcome in the future, but it is long overdue, and evidently needed. Guidance is not a dirty word in polite society and shouldn’t be in politics either. I would venture further to state that the current crop of County Officials don’t recognize a conflict of interest when it is sitting on the end of their noses. When did you ever get to vote on your salary Mr.Pickard? Never you say? Me either.
    Jack Cavenah

    1. Like I say Mr Cavenah, I support anything you legally can do to change the direction. History so far shows that direction requires cooperation, I fear the current Court with a couple of exceptions is not prepared to cooperate. The count still appears to be 3 rino’s 2 conservatives.

  26. Enough people showing up to protest both inside and outside the Commissioners’ Court meetings, and the accompying bad publicity can surely change the minds of the RINOs. They hate publicity, especially bad publicity, and that will get the issues before the whole voting public. If anything cannot stand the light of day it usually doesn’t last very long. Let’s shine some light on the issues we want changed and see what happens. Local public officials have the same basic SS, Medicare, etc. we do but Federal employees DO NOT. If they did, Social Security would be fixed by Friday of this week. The 2 for 1 match for county employees at all levels cost the Parker County taxpayers literally MILLIONS of dollars a year and I along with many others, consider it exorbitant and in dire need of an immediate change to a more equitable amount in line with National Labor Board Standards, which is $0.50 for 1 dollar match, if any. They will recoil at the thought of losing this, but after all, it IS OUR MONEY! We can fight for what is right or we can become sheeple and just accept what ever they dish out. I don’t intend to start grazing any time soon.
    Jack Cavenah

  27. Who is this Joe Strauss guy, and what does he mean by no more budget cuts and raise mor revenue? We have the funds to operate a streamline state just by removing illegals from the dole. Looks it might be time to revisit state priorities with the local rep. Surely he has seen what our policies have done to the gov on the national level. As the border region becomes more dangerous the less you hear about it on the big scene.

  28. Bachmann really surprised me tha she wanted to maintain foreign aid to countries that hate us. What is with this buying off pakistan military because they have nukes. I now believe that is why Iran wants in on the game. (read that here the other day, didn’t think it was true until last night) Paul still did not come across as a contender. Santorum needs to go ahead and drop out. Huntsman seems to be a sqush for china. Romney is still a Rino and will back down on principles and say now w3hat ever it takes to be in the running. rooten tootn newt is so much more knowledgeable and smarter than anyone else on the stage. He controls his dialog and stays where he wants to be regardless of what the idiots ask him, takes command of the direction he wants to go and goes there. But do you trust him? His history? Has he become more in line in principles or is he still trying to push what is best for you whether you want it or not because ‘I know best.’ so far the debates have tried to push some candidates more than others and tend to give some less equal time than others. Based on the polls I guess.

  29. Would like to know more about your group, and where and when you meet.
    V / R

  30. Jeannie,

You can connect with our group via Parker County TEA Party group on facebook. We meet the first Tues. of every month 7:PM at Victory Baptist Church. We also have an e-mail list if you would like to be added.

  31. o’ by the way why don’t we just open up an unmanned border crossig in west texas.

  32. Today, in 1913, President Woodrow Wilson signed legislation creating the Federal Reserve. All has been pixie dust and unicorns ever since.

  33. Subject: Made in America …
This is very interesting. Please watch this & then forward it along.

Take a minute to watch this video to the end before you go to Home Depot or Lowes, or to any other store, for that matter.

Let’s buy American. It makes sense, and you can see just what a difference it can make. Check this out

  34. Well I’m starting to Paulie? the POTUS today did recess appointments, get this, while the congress was not in recess. I don’t think I can justify this in any way. There is not a chance that this is lawful, is it ? Put me on to some serious reading concerning this. I think we have just set a new precedent in over reaching and closer to a monarchy or worse.

  35. Stan, what do you think of the NDAA and the SOPA / PIPA legislation going through as we speak? I’d like to hear your feedback.

  36. there is absolutely no justification for these actions as usual the are statutes in place to handle the reported reasons for this actions Another power grab and a way to pick winners and losers bad,bad bad

  37. Under the radar way to control the people, that are not capable of protecteing themselves. Just another way of picking winners and losers. There are those who really think that utopia does exists and that all we have to do is gain control and push people to believe what the one is pushing. Now on to another topic since it hasn’t happened yet. Read Ameritopia this week, have you read it yet. The sutleties(sp) of this back door politics that is occurring in America is disheartening. The sad part is the fact that a large percentage of people still believe that the gov has their best interest in mind when they do these things and give them a pass and a A for their effort. What do you do to get people to understand that equality is not equal outcomes but equal opportunity. I can’t believe the extent of the entitlement mentality in the USA. I am not talking about SS and Medicare, which us old guys have been paying for for years, ( Imean years) If that money had been in my hands and invested ,even with the downturn in the economy I would still be a multi millionaire today. The sad part is even after working for 55 years ,still working by the way, All of retirements are still based on the premise that a SS check would be coming in and thus retirement and insurance gets cut to offset the income from the SS and medicare. So you young guys go rassle the bull for awhile and get things straight.

  38. newt president rubio vp paul in charge of the fed or sec treasury let paul pick his own people. pass the torch to rubio and Paul’s favorite pick.

    Replace all of congress especilly
boner get reids buddy’s in the senate

  39. Just received my Open Records response from the city on what are the educational and career qualifications of our city council politicians. Exactly what I expected, bureaucratic mumbo jumbo and nothing for either education or job preparation. When next I step to the microphone in city hall, it will be to say “uneducated and unlearned” as I emphasize their lack of qualifications to be making the decisions for our lives and our money.

    Bill Moylan

  40. What do you think they should be?

  41. the city council should be composed of people that have the best interest of the people they represent. Not special interest and not for personal grandeur ,astreet named after some a bridge named fo living breathing councilman give me a break.

    1. Then get out and vote!

Attend meetings and voice your opinions – suggests to help as well as oppositions.

      Just my suggestion anyway.

  42. Do you have a voting scorecard for Parker County, much like the Congressional scorecard for the Presidential elections to show the comparisons between the candidates? Suggestions for candidates and the reason why would also be helpful.

  43. Please put me on your list of notices and events !!

  45. Looks like it is going to take the Blacks and Mexicans to get our Democracy back. I will never forget how Democracy was Great, in the 1960’s. President Kennedy, and Lyndon B.Johnson were both in the same corner for Liberty and Justice for all. Since the advent of the Supreme Court in 2000, stopping the vote in Florida, and handing the election to Bush, our Country began going down hill to Hell. You Republican K Streeters, and lobbyest and Wall Streeters, have done more to Rob American Citizens of their Civil rights and fair wages and safe water, soil and air living standards, than any Robber Barons in recorded history. I hope you pay dearly for your sins.

    1. Darwin,
I see you are still living in the Twilight Zone of Socialism. Your memories of the “Great Society” and my recollection are vastly different. I blame Kennedy’s political plan that only Johnson could have gotten passed for most of the welfare debacles of today.

“Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one’s opinions and ideas. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.” Wikipedia

In this neck of the woods, Freedom of Speech is far too often a foreign language. If you doubt that statement for one moment, you have obviously never attended anything monitored by Zan Prince or Mark Riley. They lead like some goose-stepping potentate. The public be damned, their will be done.

The pending forum next Thursday evening will most likely be nothing but a rah, rah bash where only the handpicked get up and give the party line. The voters will probably never have a chance to quiz the candidates and officials with their serious concerns. We will likely listen to “how great I am” prepared dribble from uneducated, unlearned politicians and bureaucrats.

Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves. ~Abraham Lincoln

  47. Early in 2014, Zan Prince and her stooge, were allowed to take over our voting elections here in Parker County. Until they are both gone, our most precious right to vote is in jeopardy. Stewed to assure elitest Republican leadership remains. You Tea Partiers should be mad as hell. Our Democrats here were too weak to stand behind the Democratic Chair Lady’s one vote against Zan Prince and her death grip on the common citizens of Parker County. Our pocketbooks and our hope for every vote to be counted are gone, but not her grip on high taxes for us to pay.

    1. Never saw this post before but Zan Prince is no fan of our Tea Party, although she stole our name and endorsed some candidates a few years ago. We have been at every County Commissioner’s meeting opposing raising taxes, where were you?
