Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler and Parker County Sheriff’s Posse are hosting a pancake supper to benefit the families of the five DART and Dallas police officers killed Thursday.
The dinner is free but donations will be collected.
“Right now, we need to focus on displaying our support to these families and departments,” Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said. “It is our hopes that through this event, they will know we stand behind them and truly honor their service.”
The pancake supper will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Clubhouse located at 2251 Mineral Wells Highway in Weatherford.
One hundred percent of funds raised will go to the families of Dallas Police Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens, Sergeant Mike Smith, Officer Patrick Zamarripa and Officer Michael Krol and DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police) Officer Brent Thompson, Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Captain Larry Sullivan said.
“I was thrilled about her idea,” Captain Sullivan said. “I challenged her to coordinate the event. She has done a terrific job at planning it on such short notice. This tragedy has affected us all. There is no higher calling than to be a public servant. The men and women who serve deserve to be recognized. We also hope this event will honor the men who lost their lives, as well as their departments and their families.”
Bill Ford of Storm Warriors will deliver a brief speech and pastor Brian Bond of Greenwood Baptist Church will deliver the opening invocation.
Local businesses are assisting in sponsoring the free supper, including IHOP, Wal-Mart of Weatherford, First National Bank of Weatherford, Office Max, Taco Casa, Plains Capital Bank, Ben E. Keith Co. Foodservice Distributors and Dunkin’ Donuts.
