We live in liberal MN and are relocating to the area.
I assumed TX was a conservative state and therefore would be safe wherever we chose to live. I just researched that TX doesn’t use Common Core but critics say Cscope is just TX’s version of it. Can anyone tell me if Weatherford or Aledo ISDs use Common Core or Cscope?

I’m hoping to move to the Bible Belt to raise our children. Would you recommend either ISD? (If we could afford private, we would do that).
What about the local newspaper named The Weatherford Democrat? What in the world – does that mean we should stay away from Weatherford?

You will pay taxes proportionately too high for the value received in WISD, and school board members who for the most part, follow the current Superintenndents’ boondoggle schemes to waste more money..
Home school them if any way possible, or the best private or church-based school.

Here is a quote from George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) of the socialist Fabian Society of England, who said, “Nothing will more quickly destroy independent Christian schools than state aid: their freedom and independence will soon be compromised, and before long their faith.”

Police Confront Parents for Opting Kids Out of Common Core
By Onan Coca / 22 April 2014 / 104 Comments
Last week in Marietta, Georgia parents were shocked when they were confronted by police as they walked on to their child’s school campus for a meeting with the principal. Why would police force be needed in a meeting with a pair of concerned parents? According to the police officer it was because “they were considered to be “potentially trespassing” on school property because they were in opposition to the normal school process.” The process they were opposed to was Common Core testing.

Hi Suzanne
So much for the enthusiastic Welcome Wagon huh? Like most places Parker County is dealing with those who would like to implement Common Core or C Scope. In fact, our own district (11) vote in March for the State Board of Education representative resulted in a run-off. That vote is coming up 19-23 May and then the 27th May is Election Day. The current rep is name Pat Hardy and she is FOR C-Scope. The man running against her is named Eric Mahroum and he is against giving up context decisions as well as teaching plans up to the Federal Government. It’s a tough race because Pat Hardy has been there forever so people may be uncomfortable voting against her. We just hope the voters will realize it really comes down to whats best for the kids and not just who you know, regardless of what they are going to do. As far as the Democrat I thought the same thing! No, not to fear. Wishing you the best and Welcome to the community!

UNCOMFORTABLE ? ..Really…Is the mentality among the drones who do even show up to vote, such that they feel some misguided loyalty to an incumbent ( not directed at you personally, but at the general low-info Republican voter ) ?
Such may be a mindset and it is scarey. But just as Christ said ” the poor you will have with you always”, I am convinced that there will always be an abundance of “poor-MINDED ” lemmings who show up to pull a lever.
We needed TERM LIMITS on every elected office at every level, from the get-go. Instead we have an entrenched class of petty politicians who smile and glad-hand near election time, and then solely serve special interests at voting time for their particular venue.
Parker County has an especially emboldened group of self-entitled elected statists.
“The government consists of a Gang of men exactly like you and me. They have, taking one with the another , no special talent for the business of government. They have only a talent for getting and holding office, the principal device to that end is to search out groups who pant and pine for something they can’t get and to promise to give it to them. 9 times of 10 the promise is worthless, the 10th time it is made good
by Looting A to satisfy B. In other words government is a Broker of Pillage, and every election is an advance sale of stolen goods.”

Oh, yeah………….when I moved to Parker 10 years ago, one of my greatest fears and causes of angst, was the scarey newspaper name ” DEMOCRAT “.
The paper was founded in 1895 – who knows, if you had been around back then, you might have been glad for its banner name. Are newspapers supposed to vacilate between banners depending on how political winds may be blowing at any given time? Okay…thanks for clearing that up.
Congrats to low-info Republicans for bringing up such an important side bar.
You have all just shown how mindlessly knee-jerk your reactions are, but Hannity & Rush would be real proud of you for spotting such a sliver of potential evil.
