From Commish 3, Posted by commish3 on April 12, 2012 – Thank you, thank you, thank you!… Thank you for the outpouring of love and support from everyone since finding out about my illness. I am going to be ok! (that’s what they tell me anyway) Please also know that everything at the precinct is running like a well oiled machine!
I respectfully requested not to have my illness be played out in public. But, since it is now out there…here goes…I am suffering from a degenerative heart condition. I will need open heart surgery and will know more after my next visit with my heart surgeon toward the end of April.
Perhaps I made a err in judgement when I decided to NOT “alert the media” with my condition (although I did share my intentions with the County Judge, County Attorney and other county officials, so be assured I was being on the up and up). For many reasons, I chose to keep it private…We don’t always get what we want. I chose not to ‘alert the media” because I knew the precinct would be just fine. Period. While I’ve been out I’ve worked on county business almost daily…I sincerely feel that the people of Precinct 3 are not being short changed.
Hopefully, over the last 8 years, I’ve shown you my best conservative self. And I’ll tell you, it’s lonely out there (get involved!).
As far as the upcoming elections…I am trying my best to give the next Commissioner the best possible advantage when joining the court. And, more importantly, an advantage to my employees at the precinct – they are the best. The timing of my health leave coincides well with the upcoming election. This is not about me, it’s about the future of Parker County.
