Fort Worth school district keeping surplus teachers on the payroll?
Fort Worth Teachers Declared Surplus
From dfw.cbslocal.com, June 2, 2012 - FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) – School has ended for most Fort Worth public school district classes, and 215 teachers don’t know where they will be next year.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the district has declared the educators surplus as they tighten staff ratios and to help deal with a nearly $41 million shortfall next year.
The district has said no teachers will be laid off. The educators considered surplus, who were still being notified Friday, are at schools considered overstaffed and will have to find jobs elsewhere in the school district.
