Reagan’s Young Lieutenant

January 27, 2012

Gingrich a star on Reagan team: Romney “work product” as conservative at issue.

From The American Spectator, By Jeffrey Lord on 1.24.12 -

Mitt Romney has raised the issue of Newt Gingrich’s “work product.”

Wow.

Intended to prod the former Speaker on the issue of his work for Freddie Mac (Gingrich last night released his contract with Freddie), the question, as seems to be a Romney characteristic, has clumsily backfired. It raises an all-too obvious question that is becoming increasingly revealing.

Election 2012 – My Endorsement For President

January 21, 2012

Chuck Norris reveals his choice for Republican nomination

From World Net Daily, by Chuck Norris, January 21, 2012 - Our republic as America’s founders created it is under assault from extremists outside our country and anti-constitutionalists inside our country. Combined with the flailing American economy and global markets, Western civilization remains on the brink, as experts and all the GOP presidential candidates agree.

President Obama has tried and failed miserably to fix our economy, deepening us and our posterity into more than $6 trillion in additional national debt – something he criticized former President Bush for as “unpatriotic” and “irresponsible.” Yet unemployment rates remain at higher levels than when Obama was elected, and the dollar is as unstable as the Middle East. Choosing Gingrich

December 31, 2011

“He’s the candidate with the best record of accomplishments.”

From National Review Online, by Thomas Sowell, December 30, 2011 - No one seems to be really happy with this year’s field of Republican candidates for that party’s presidential nomination — except perhaps the Democrats.

Thomas Sowell

The sudden rise, and equally sudden fall, of a succession of Republican frontrunners is just one sign of the dissatisfaction of the Republican voters with this field of candidates. Read the rest of this entry »

Can Congress Subpoena Judges?

December 20, 2011

From RedState.com, by Leon H. Wolf (Diary), December 19, 2011 – I have to confess at the outset that I am at a loss to explain the hyperventilation in some quarters about Newt Gingrich’s remarks in Saturday night’s debate that he would subpoena federal judges to testify before Congress. I don’t really want to get sidetracked in a discussion of whether such a move would be a good idea, politically (it would almost certainly not, as evidenced by the fact that it is never done), my only beef is with the suggestion that it literally could not be done. In other words, to some extent this is probably the sort of discussion that only a soul-sucking lawyer fascinated by the question of how many angels could dance on the head of a pin could possibly enjoy and therefore I will stick most of it below the fold. I will say, however, that folks who have never actually practiced in front of a judge generally have no idea how bad things are in the judiciary these days – and while I think Newt’s plan is probably political suicide, I don’t think some outside-the-box thinking should be completely discarded where the judiciary is concerned, because it is clear that what has been done prior to this point is just not working. The Gingrich Gamble

December 16, 2011

From National Review Online, by Victor Davis Hanson, December 14, 2011

Victor Davis Hanson

All the Romney-alternatives — Bachmann, Cain, Christie, Giuliani, Palin, Perry, Rubio, Trump — came and went, or never came at all, except the most unlikely one, Newt Gingrich. With the implosion of the Cain campaign, and the realization that there are for now no more great conservative hopes on the horizon, Gingrich has pulled off one of the more unlikely comebacks in presidential-primary history, and finds himself ahead in the Republican polls. Gingrich Charge of a Socialist America Confirmed

December 7, 2011

From GopUSA.com, By Cliff Kincaid, December 7, 2011 2:00 pm - Democrats say they have dirt on Newt Gingrich, but he has the dirt on them. He has accurately described the socialist infiltration of America: “The Left has thoroughly infiltrated nearly every cultural commanding height of our civilization. That is, they hold power, influence and control of academia, the elite news media, Hollywood, union leaders, trial lawyers, the courts, the Congress, and the bureaucracy at all levels of government.
