David Barton & Thomas Nelson

Dear Friend,
The left wing is in full combat mode trying to discredit David Barton’s scholarly work on Thomas Jeffersonand they have managed to get the support of some unwitting evangelicals and elitist professors from “Christian Universities.”
I urge you to read the announcement below from WallBuilders, my blog post from earlier this evening at http://www.rickgreen.com/attacks-on-david-barton-same-as-tactics-of-alinsky-hitler/, and David’s very well-footnoted response to the critics at http://www.wallbuilders.com/LIBissuesArticles.asp?id=118208.
It’s always amazing to me when David’s critics accuse him of “shoddy workmanship” and “sloppy research” and then they give absolutely no specific examples of him being inaccurate while he gives thousands of footnotes. Turns out their critique is shoddy and sloppy and his work is solid!
My prayer is that people will see through the unfounded attacks and read David’s work for themselves. If you find holes, then point them out. Don’t be cowardly like Thomas Nelson was and just run from the fight.
I stand with David Barton and know his work to be more scholarly and more well-documented with original sources than any other historian of our generation.

For God and Country,

Rick Green

David Barton & Thomas Nelson

The announcement that Thomas Nelson has pulled The Jefferson Lies because it has “lost confidence” in the work has become national news. However, while Thomas Nelson may have “lost confidence” in the work, others have not and thus the book has already been picked up by a much larger national publisher and distributor. Even at the time Nelson dropped the work, they admitted that it was still selling very well.

As is the case with all of our published items, we go above and beyond with original source documentation so that people can be thoroughly confident when they see the truth of history for themselves. We find it regrettable that Thomas Nelson never contacted us with even one specific area of concern before curtly notifying us they had dropped the work. Had they done so, we would have been happy to provide them with the thorough and extensive historical documentation for any question or issue they raised; they never asked. The Jefferson Lies has not been pulled from publication and it will continue to sell nationally.
