Kudos to County Judge Mark Riley for following through with his commitment to make County Government totally transparent to all Parker County citizens.

Parker County receives certificate for financial transparency

January 25, 2010

I know some of you, especially our local folks, have done a story on this, but we just received in the mail today our certificate from the Texas Comptroller’s Office regarding our leading efforts in financial transparency amongst Texas Counties. It is pretty exciting to me that we are one of only two counties, out of the 254 in Texas, to achieve the Gold Star Status. We actually received 15 out of 15 points in the comptroller’s rating criteria to earn this award. Here is a link to the Comptroller’s web site so that you don’t just have to take my word for it. http://www.window.state.tx.us/comptrol/checkup/counties.php

King Receives ‘A+’ Rating from NRA

January 15, 2010

The National Rifle Association (NRA) announced this week that State Representative Phil King (R-Weatherford) has earned an ‘A+’ rating, the organization’s highest score, on their legislative scorecard, as well as the organization’s endorsement for the 2010 election cycle.

“Representative King’s high rating and endorsement is based on his strong and tireless support for Second Amendment issues in the Texas Legislature,” said NRA spokeswoman Tara Reilly Mica.

“Protecting the Second Amendment is more important today than ever before as our right to bear arms faces constant threat from the left,” commented King, “This is an issue that is extremely important to both my constituents and conservatives across the state, and I look forward to continuing to fight to preserve our Second Amendment rights in the coming legislative session.”

Colleague praises Renfro’s abilities

January 8, 2010

by Joey Howington

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have never met Mr. Wallis so I can’t speak to his character and or ability.  However, I have known Dusty Renfro for many years and did have the privilege of working with him at NAI Huff Partners.  He’s a special person.
Working at Huff Partners I realized how talented he is.  Many people in the brokerage / development business consider him to be one of the brightest young minds in N. Texas.  He’s the kind of guy you go to when you hit a dead end…  I personally saw him achieve high levels of success in the brokerage business while building a development company from scratch.  He feels like there’s nothing he can’t accomplish and the people who have been around him feel the same way.  I guess you don’t get his resume’ with any other mind set.
Unconstitutional “government programs”
January 6, 2010
by Kerri Rehmeyer
While reading the post “Your socialist rationed healthcare system is not the answer”, I notice every one of the “government programs” except the Post Office are unconstitutional!
There is a rally planned for January 16th to call on the governor to call a special session of the Texas State Legislature to interpose on behalf of all Texans and nullify every UNCONSTITUTIONAL Law, Resolution, Amendment, etc. and to UPHOLD our own TEXAS CONSTITUTION!!
Your socialist rationed healthcare system is not the answer
January 5, 2010
Dear Mr. Politician:
You established the U.S. Post Service in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.
You established Social Security in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.
You established Fannie Mae in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.
You started your War on Poverty in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year by the IRS and “re-distributed” to the ever increasing pool of parasites you call “the needy”.
