Parker County Sheriff’s Office Investigator and Special Operations Group member Richard Crosley is in stable condition in a Fort Worth hospital after being shot while serving an arrest warrant early Wednesday morning, in Parker County, just west of Weatherford.
Parker County’s Special Operations Group arrived at approximately 12:20 a.m.; Sept. 30, 2009 after Sheriff’s Deputies found the suspect barricaded in a storage shed in the 3200 block of Oak Lane.
The suspect, Douglas Earl Fredenburg, a 50-year-old white male had an arrest warrant for arson out of Parker County.
Negotiations ensued and when officers attempted to enter the storage building, Fredenburg opened fire shooting through the door and striking Cpl. Crosley in the upper right thigh.
Officers returned fire, striking the suspect three times. Fredenburg was transported by CareFlite and is being treated in a Fort Worth hospital.
Cpl. Crosley was transported to a Fort Worth hospital by CareFlite where he is currently recuperating.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Cpl. Crosley and his family,” Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said. “Cpl. Crosley performed his duties admirably and we are thankful to him for his work. Law enforcement officers face hazards on a daily basis, while working to protect and serve the public. We will be filing attempted Capital Murder charges against the suspect today. I have requested assistance from the Texas Rangers in handling the ensuing investigation.”
