Although the following article was written to Tarrant County voters, I believe you will find it to be interesting and helpful.

Some of you may have received a Dick Armey mailing from Kay Bailey Huchison back in February, as I did, taken from Kay’s website! It indicated that she was touted as a conservative with a 90% GOP voting record. I about swallowed my grits when I read it ! I have been a Reagan loving precinct charman for 46 years and used to give numerous speeches on ways to evaluate congressmen by studying their conservative index.

I cannot connect the dots from Dick Armey’s reference of a 90% GOP voting record to Sen Hutchison’s actual conservative ratings! In the first place he did not use any of the four most accurate conservative rating organizations:

National Taxpayers Union www.ntu.org (much more conservative than ACU)

Citizens Against Gov’t Waste www.cagw.org

When should the American flag be flown at half staff

August 28, 2009

It seems some in the area have lowered their flags to honor Sen. Ted
Kennedy and some have not.   Roger Williams did. Jerry Durant did
not.  There was no instruction from the governor.  Most businesses
have not.
If this were Massachussetts, there would be no question.

It seems former county commissioner Mack Dobbs, a Democrat, is wanting
the county flags lowered and calling on Judge Mark Riley, a
Republican, to lower them.   Hmmm….now Bud Kennedy (no relation to
the senator) is calling. Bud is an opinion writer for the Fort Worth
Star Telegram.

Click here to read Bud Kennedy’s comments on this issue.

We will continue to follow the story.

People of Weatherford! Note how your city councilmen Waymon Hamilton and Craig Swancy are handing out your tax money!

In a Tuesday night meeting characterized by name calling and desperation, the Weatherford City Council handed down an embattled decision to fund the Doss Heritage and Culture Center with hotel/motel tax money in fiscal year 2010.

The measure was opposed by councilmembers Jerry Clinton and James Hamilton, who both insisted the Doss’ accounting for past funding was sub-par, and their presentation to council did not warrant funding from a tight budget.

Texas inmates received U.S. STIMULUS CHECKS in error

ECONOMIC STIMULUS

Texas inmates received U.S. stimulus checks in error

Most of 240 payments were seized, returned by prison officials, but a few prisoners got to keep the money.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

At least 240 Texas convicts had federal economic stimulus checks delivered to them at state prisons in a bureaucratic mix-up that federal and state authorities are investigating.

While prison officials intercepted most of the checks, nine convicts were allowed to cash the $250 checks and keep the money because they were eligible for the one-time payments to Americans receiving federal benefits such as Social Security, officials confirmed Tuesday.

“We caught this because of the procedures we have in place,” said John Moriarty, inspector general of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, which runs the 154,000-convict, 112-prison system. “We think we caught everything that shouldn’t have gone through.”

Perry for Texas. Hutchison for Washington.

In 2010, Texans either will lead the nation forward according to conservative principle and under conservative leadership, or they will put their trust and faith in the ways of Washington. In the last several weeks, current Texas Governor Rick Perry and U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison – each vying for the Texas Governorship in 2010 – have each made significant public statements that make their positions crystal clear. Perry is for Texas. Hutchison is for Washington. Read the rest of this entry »

King – outspoken critic of President Obama’s healthcare plan

August 26, 2009
State Rep. Phil King(2009)2As you know, I’ve been very outspoken in my opposition to the healthcare plan that the Democrats and President Obama have been propagating in Washington.  A couple of weeks ago I joined several of my colleagues in the Texas Legislature in sending a letter to the Texas Congressional delegation urging them to oppose the plan as well.

Yesterday I came across this organizational chart of how the healthcare plan will work if it is passed.  I hope it scares you as much as it did me.  Please take a look at this chart and share it with all of your friends.  The federal government has shown that they are unable to run Social Security, Medicare, and many other programs, so why do they now think they can create the largest government program in our nation’s history and have it work properly?

California needs a strong leader, says Texas governor Rick Perry. That strong leader, Mr. Perry thinks, needs to go to Sacramento and “take special interests out” of government. He needs to “make massive cuts” in spending and taxes. And he needs “to make major changes in the constitution,” including tort reform. Read the rest of this entry »

Please consider the state of the economy, the state of your budget and the state of what is the appropriate role of government.

The Doss Museum should be a privately funded and supported institution.  The use of city money to promote this museum is not what tax payers choose.  If a tax payer wants to support the museum, they have every right to send them a check.   Government, however, is to provide services other entities cannot provide.  Law enforcement and roads come to mind.    Museums, no.
